Are you up on the latest mask guidance from the Centers for Disease Control, Dr. Anthony Fauci and other experts? See if you can answer these 5 questions.

If I don’t feel sick, do I still need a mask?

YES!

“You should wear a mask, even if you do not feel sick. This is because several studies have found that people with COVID-19 who never develop symptoms (asymptomatic) and those who are not yet showing symptoms (pre-symptomatic) can still spread the virus to other people.”
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

Am I all right as long as the mask covers my mouth?

NO!

“Wearing a mask over your mouth but not your nose is akin to holding the seat belt in your hand but not clicking it.”
Mark Rupp
Chief of the Infectious Diseases Division
University of Nebraska Medical Center

I don’t need to wear a mask in a restaurant, do I?

YES!

“CDC recommends wearing a mask while dining in a restaurant, particularly indoors and when speaking with restaurant workers and servers, except when actively eating or drinking.”
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

A feed bag can’t substitute for a mask.

Is a neck gaiter as good as a mask?

NO!

“… a single-layer polyester gaiter performed poorly…, ranking slightly lower than the…no-mask control group.”
“…research conducted by aerosol experts has suggested that when a single-layer gaiter is worn doubled up, it is highly effective at blocking a range of particle sizes.”
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

If you must wear a neck gaiter make sure it has more than one layer of fabric.

Is wearing two masks better than one?

YES!

“If you have a physical covering with one layer, you put another layer on, it just makes common sense that it likely would be more effective.”
Dr. Anthony Fauci
Director, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases

Double masking is a good idea for more protection.
