As Nebraska Furniture Mart readies for the 2015 opening of its very big store (1.9 million square feet, including both the furniture showroom and the distribution center) in The Colony, more news is appearing about the Grandscape development, named and branded by SullivanPerkins. Here, Jeff Lind, chief strategy and development officer with Nebraska Furniture Mark and president of Grandscape, tells the Dallas Business Journal at a late October press conference about new retail tenants for the project. SullivanPerkins has had some connection to the leasing effort. Our 25-foot tall leasing sign (there’s nothing conventional about this project) is in fact a very large sculpted chair that holds a “We’re saving a seat for you” leasing sign. The project (and Nebraska Furniture Mart) is part of Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway empire, which includes such household brands as GEICO. But everybody knows that.
