Antarctica, Give Us a Call

In a historic announcement, long-time client BNSF Railway recently shared that they are offering, in partnership with CSX, the first seamless transcontinental intermodal routes ever in the U.S. Congratulations, BNSF! That got us thinking about continents, and that got us thinking about how SP has had a connection to pretty much all of them. Yes, we’re based in DFW, and most of our work is for clients in the area. But since many of our larger clients have international operations we can say SP is something of a (sometimes tenuous) global citizen.

Here are a few of our Continental connections. North America: We just told you we work for BNSF, which now offers routes that span the continent; South America: We’ve done several annual reports for the state oil company of Suriname, Staatsolie; Europe: For a decade we did branding work for Nokia, which is headquartered in Finland (we handled their North American packaging, but still); Africa: Long-time client Kosmos Energy has operations in several West African nations, and we’ve done multiple jobs for their office in Senegal (in French!); Asia: For a while, we designed packaging and provided naming for ZTE, the Chinese-based telecom giant; Australia: For years we provided annual reports and other marketing for the Fortune 500 steelmaker CMC, which often included writing about their CMC Australia division; Antarctica: Well, nothing, really, but we have done groundbreaking identity work for UNT, and they do offer a climate change study abroad program based in southernmost Argentina that includes an expedition to, yes, the Antarctic peninsula. So, take that, penguins, we’re counting it!
