Metrocare Cneter For Education

On June 6th our clients at the Center for Education & Research at Metrocare celebrated their official launch. Congratulations from all of us at SullivanPerkins.

Among the dignitaries who spoke at an event at their headquarters were Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson and Dallas City Manager Mary Suhm.

The Center for Education & Research is an initiative of Metrocare Services in Dallas, Texas, one of the largest providers of public mental health treatment in Texas. The Center is dedicated to addressing the urgent need for mental healthcare training to alleviate the severe shortage of public mental health professionals in Texas.

Texas ranks far below the national average in the number of mental health professionals per 100,000 residents. Due to the shortage of public mental health professionals, less than one-third of 154,724 Texas children with severe emotional disturbance received treatment through community mental health services. As of March 2009, 68% of Texas counties were designated as Health Profession Shortage Areas (HPSAs) for mental health.
