SullivanPerkins Creative Director and occasional blogger Rob Wilson has a guest feature on KERA’s Art&Seek blog. In it, Rob discusses our design for the 2009-10 Kitchen Dog Theater brochure, which hit mailboxes last week. Check it out for a conversation about the creative process, risk-taking theater and the color magenta. Oh, and there’s also a few mentions of human trafficking and B-movie horror.

From the blog:

This limited color palette not only helped with our printing budget, but it also gave the finished printed materials a graphic, edgy visual aesthetic that corresponds with KDT productions. And working with limitations allowed the designers to focus on their ideas. But they also needed to let their imaginations run amok in order to capture each play’s emotional tone and narrative complexity. In a sense, it’s like letting a dog run wild in a fenced-off backyard.

Kitchen Dog Theater’s 2009-10 season opens with Vigils on September 11, 2009.

The full posters from KDT’s 2008-09 season are available on our Flickr stream.
