Kitchen Dog Theater’s New Season, New Show and New Website

KD New Now

Kitchen Dog Theater’s much-anticipated 09/10 season is finally underway, and the opener, Vigils, wasn’t the only show that premiered recently. Their new SP-designed website went live as well, boasting ample magenta, the Soviet-esque font East Bloc, and – more importantly – new images capturing the evocative subject matter we’ve come to expect from a Kitchen Dog show.

Vigils runs Sept. 11 – Oct. 10. Tickets are available online at brownpapertickets.com. Learn more about the play (and trapping souls in boxes) after the jump.

From the website:

The Play: Two years after a fireman died trying to save a baby from a burning home, his widow is clinging to the past—literally. She has trapped her husband’s soul in a box, and his body is wandering around aimlessly, ricocheting from one memory to the next, as body and soul try to come to terms with their actions during his life. When a handsome wooer arrives on the scene, the widow must decide between the past she knows and a future that she can only imagine.

The Playwright: Noah Haidle’s plays have been or will be produced at South Coast Repertory, The Long Wharf Theater, The Goodman Theater, The Woolly Mammoth Theatre, The Huntington Theater and The Roundabout Theatre Company. Haidle is currently working on a new play commission from The Goodman Theater and a screenplay for Scott Rudin Productions. He is a graduate of Princeton University and The Juilliard School, where he was a Lila Acheson Wallace playwright-in-residence. He is the recipient of three Lincoln Center Le Compte Du Nouy Awards, the 2005 Helen Merrill Award for Emerging Playwrights and an NEA/TCG theater residency grant. Winner of the Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Play and the Olivier Award.
