We’ve been helping long-time client BNSF re-engineer, if you will, their brand guidelines. One fun section helps new employees get a handle on some freight-rail specific terms and how BNSF likes to use them. There’s double track, demurrage, drayage – and that’s just the D’s. Every industry has its own jargon, and we’re perfectly able to learn the lingo. But we also retain an outside, objective perspective, so we can advise when it’s time for a little Plain English versus a lot of Train English. By the way, as you surely know, a reefer is a refrigerated railcar and a hump yard is a rail yard with a hill that uses gravity to help sort out which track railcars need to be sent to. For more fun train geek knowledge, hop aboard this Virtual Train Tour we did for the BNSF website.
